《紅樓夢》的英文譯名

《紅樓夢》的有幾個不同的英文譯名。

直譯「紅樓夢」的大概有3個：

Dream of Red Chamber
譯者：Robert Tom
時間：1846

The Dream of Red Chamber
譯者：Florence & Isabel Mchugh
時間：1958

A Dream of Red Mansions
譯者：戴乃迭、楊憲益
時間：1978

意譯或者說用《紅樓夢》的別名翻譯的主要是霍克斯（David Hawkes）1973年的譯名 The story of the Stone，同時有註 also known as The Dream of Red Chamber。

以上4個都是較有影響力的譯名，此外尚有建議意譯為 A Tale of the Stone 、 The Dream of the 12 Girls 之類的。

除了拼音外，用了另一個類似的譯名。
